Our enrollment policy has changed.
We will continue to accept students K-8 (where space is available) through the end of the school year.
And, we will now accept students in grades 9 and 10 until the 10th day of the Fall and Spring Semesters.

ACS Book Fair December 2 – 9
Our Book Fair will be December 2 through December 9 from 8:00 until 3:30 in the media center. Family Night will be on December 6 from from 5:30 until 7:30 and will include a Christmas concert. Shoppers can set up and manage eWallets until December 8. The online fair will run from December 2 to the 15th. All online purchases will be shipped to home addresses.

Registration Is Open For NC Driver’s Education Course
Students who are at least 14 years 6 months old, or will be by Monday, December 5, 2022 and interested in taking the North Carolina Driver Education 30-hour classroom instruction class must complete this Google Form by Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 8AM to be considered.
The classes will be held virtually December 5 – December 16 (Monday – Friday) from 6PM-9PM. Students will need reliable internet access along with an email address they use regularly. Students planning to take the class must be passing at least three of their four semester courses according to the most recent reporting of grades and have good attendance. Students without a clean disciplinary record will have their disciplinary record reviewed by the administration for inclusion in the class. If you are currently playing a sport or have other activities going on, I would suggest waiting until the next course offering as this would conflict with your practices/games/events.
Students will receive an email notifying them of their acceptance Friday, December 2 by 5PM.

The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz
at The Old Theatre
The Arapahoe Charter School Theatre Arts Program, in conjunction with the Old Theatre, will present “The Wizard of Oz” on Friday, April 29th at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, April 30th at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, May 1st at 2:00 p.m. at The Old Theatre, 609 Broad Street, Oriental.
Tickets are now available at Nautical Wheelers, Oriental. They will also be available at The Old Theatre one hour prior to performances. Ticket prices are Adults: $15 and Children 12 and Under: $5.
All proceeds support the Arapahoe Charter School Theatre Arts Program.

Effective immediately, ACS will not require students and staff to wear masks on our school buses. This action is based on the CDC’s directive to align with updated guidance that no longer recommends indoor mask wearing in K-12 schools and early education settings.

Books Bring Us Together at the
Spring Book Fair
The spring book fair will be March 7 through the 14th in the ACS Media Center.
Tuesday, March 8 will be the Family Night and Title I night. In addition to the book fair, the Title I Math and Reading Team will have an interactive display in the cafeteria that describes our Title I program.
While in the cafeteria grab a hot dog and chips for dinner. If you would like to eat dinner with us that evening, in order for us to plan appropriately, you must return the meal sign up sheet by Thursday, March 3rd. Sign up sheets were sent home with your child. The hot dog meal is free for all participants.

ACS Masks Are Now Optional
The Arapahoe Charter School Board of Directors has approved an optional mask mandate effective immediately.
“As we have since the beginning of this pandemic, we have followed the recommendations of public health leaders, who track our statewide progress in controlling the virus,” said Merritt Watson, chairman of the Board of Directors. “We thank Governor Cooper for his leadership in this matter, and we know that parents are grateful as well.”
Students and bus drivers will still be required to wear masks on school buses, as required under a federal regulation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Parents who wish for their students to continue wearing masks, please call and notify the school.

Free COVID Testing For Students Is Still Available
In conjunction with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Arapahoe Charter School is providing COVID-19 testing on site at our school. In order for your student to participate in the free testing, you will need to register your student. This is an optional program and no testing of your child will occur unless parents complete the registration process.
